This week, Cuevas y C\u00eda welcomed more than twenty students and teachers from CIFP A Xunqueira (Pontevedra) and IES Ant\u00f3n Losada Di\u00e9guez (A Estrada), who are researching new applications for chestnut shells.
The visit was guided by Roc\u00edo Cid, manager of Cuevas y C\u00eda, who shared with the group our commitment to making full use of the fruit. Several tonnes of shells are generated annually in the manufacture of our products, a natural material that is now beginning to show new potential. <\/p>\n
The students are working on the project \u2018Natureza e Innovaci\u00f3n: Taboleiro con Alma Sostible\u2019 (Nature and Innovation: Taboleiro with a Sustainable Soul), which aims to develop an ecological board made from chestnut skin. The students on the \u2018Madeira e Moble\u2019 courses then plan to use this material to create auxiliary furniture, decorative items and even prototypes of sustainable packaging for products such as our forest soul, marron glac\u00e9. <\/p>\n
At Grupo Cuevas, we strive to promote initiatives such as this one, which foster sustainability, young talent and innovation applied to our environment. Turning a by-product into a resource is a step towards a more circular and responsible economy. <\/p>\n
